It has been 3 weeks since I joined the team at Yodel Towers and I am happy to report that so far I am enjoying the experience and managing to keep my head above water. Over the past few weeks I have been prepped in all things mobile, met various new faces, chased after clients, come to terms with the jargon, learnt how to put together a good strategy, tried and tested the surrounding pub grub and have now developed what I feel is a very special bond with Radio 6.

This week my fellow Yodellers are bravely trusting me with their great reputation and allowing me to dabble into the world of social media in order to present a successful campaign strategy for a big client. Social media, like mobile, is a relatively new and exciting form of communication turned branding platform. Social media numbers have erupted over the past couple of years, thanks to the popularity of networking sites such as Facebook and the micro blogging platform Twitter. Naturally these popular sites have now presented themselves as obvious channels for promotion and so I have spent the past week banging out a strong strategic proposal that will take advantage of the best possible marketing opportunities that these sites have to offer.
Wish me luck!

Besides immersing myself in all things social media, I have been exploring and testing the depths of mobile media planning, It is easy to forget that mobile campaigns are still very much in their infancy, what with every inbox and telephone in the office brimming with the latest mobile statistics and info. However as Mick explained to me on our first meeting, the mobile platform is like a volcano and the Yodel team will be there ready and waiting for when it erupts.
Exciting times lie ahead for the mobile advertising that’s for sure.

Oh and, sign the petition to save Radio 6 please, thanks! –
