The Rugby World Cup 2015 kicks off tonight. Rugby fans everywhere will be packed (tight as a scrum) into sports bars, pubs and around the TV at home in order to follow the action. However, life can’t stop just for rugby (however much we wish it could!) and keeping up-to-date on the move over the next six weeks is going to be crucial. But do not worry! The mobile world has, of course, got you covered. Here are Yodel Mobile’s top five Rugby apps, designed specifically so you won’t have to miss one single moment of the fierce and muddy game.

1. The official app (free)

This is available in English, French, Spanish and Japanese. Its features are the most extensive of the rugby apps’! They include: a weekly video quiz, all the social buzz from #RWC2015 teams, latest rugby news, fixtures, pools, an interactive match centre, live audio from all RWC matches, detailed squad breakdowns and a full schedule. And, as if that wasn’t enough, there’s a dream team game to keep you occupied in-between matches. There is also the ability to personalise news and alerts to the country you are following, which is a nice touch! We highly recommend this rugby app, and it’s free.

2. ITV Rugby World Cup 2015 (free)

If you’re based in the UK, ITV’s official app gives video highlights of every World Cup game, making it incredibly useful for keeping up with the action while at work. It will also use the app to poll fans in real time on key moments and has all the up-to-the-minute stats too. Also, a fun kicking swipe game is available that lets you attempt the on-field kicks as penalties and conversions are awarded in real time.

3. Rugby World Cup 2015 Programmes (free)

While you can’t be at the stadium for each match, you can get your hands on the official programmes in digital form courtesy of this app. Charged via subscription – there will be 48 programmes over the next month (£3.99 a programme). This is an app for avid fans who want to keep up-to-date with everything in easy bite-sized digital chunks!

4. World Rugby Laws of Rugby (free)

This app is the most educational and in-depth of all the rugby apps: it’s for in-match and post-match arguments with friends and colleagues about a particular moment of play. The app will show you the key referee signals and play videos to explain more complex laws and show you what happened. It’s great for learning, explaining and discussing the matches in detail.

5. Ultimate Rugby (free)

This is an app that’s great for the Apple Watch. It has a deep news feed and data, with the promise of comprehensive coverage throughout the tournament. Imagine that, up-to-the minute results straight to your wrist so you won’t miss a single goal.
